The 100th Launch of BODYPUMP

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

On Saturday, January 14, Les Mills International is coordinating the 100th release of its renowned exercise program BodyPump. This launch is taking place globally, and the Workout Company on Kays Drive is the only fitness club in town offering this exciting event.

BodyPump is a total body workout done with the help of light to moderate weights and high repetition. This class is carried out in a group setting and is designed to get you lean, toned, and fit in a short amount of time.  Exercising among others who are determined and passionate about being the healthiest version of themselves is an amazing motivator, and the hit music and encouraging instructors help boost the fun. You will leave the session feeling challenged, accomplished, and ready to come back and give it your all time and time again. The energy and inspiration gained from group fitness is unmatched and provides the confidence and support needed to push yourself to the next level.

According to Carol Clover, owner of the Workout Company, “the combination of contemporary music, scientifically-proven exercise techniques, and quickly observable physical results have been the key to the workout’s inter-generational appeal.” This launch is a world-renowned event that will be held at thousands of fitness clubs around the world. You don’t want to miss your chance to be a part of the world’s biggest workout that will leave you feeling stronger and more in love with fitness.

WoCo is inviting everyone to attend Saturday’s BODYPUMP classes for free. Space is limited, so you and your friends will want to reserve your tickets in advance at the front desk of their facility at 419 Kays Drive in Normal, IL, for the 7 AM, 8:15 AM, or 9:30 AM session. The 9:30 AM class will be led by our very own Heather Young.

In celebration of the 100th launch of BODYPUMP, an OhmFit trunk show will be offered all weekend at the Kays Drive location, and to celebrate the occasion, we will give 15% off all purchases that are $100 or more at our trunk show. What better way to prepare for an invigorating workout session than gearing up with some cute new active wear! We look forward to seeing you at WoCo this week as we kick off the new year tackling our fitness goals together. Trunk show hours are Friday, 8-10, Saturday, 7-11 and Monday 8-10.

Q&A with Emily from MyLeanBody Bootcamp

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Since the inception of OhmFit Activewear, we have been dedicated to doing trunk shows and pop-up shops. Our next exhibition will be hosted by MyLeanBody Boot Camp in Bloomington, IL, on December 16th from 5 to 10:30 AM and December 17th from 7 to 10 AM. This boot camp is more than a training facility; It is a way of life. MLBBC has evolved into a community of powerful and committed women who work every day towards being the healthiest versions of themselves. Their team is extremely supportive, encouraging, and will stick by your side throughout your journey to reaching your personal wellness goals. We chatted with Emily, who is the founder of this gym, and she gave us some insight into the birth of MLBBC, conquering herfears, productivity hacks, and so much more.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An orthodontist; That changed after I job shadowed a dentist, and saw a root canal. I knew that I was not going down that path! Thank goodness for job shadowing!

Did you enjoy P.E. in school? Why/why not?

Yes, I did. I loved to run around and play.  I was not the best as sports when I was a kid, but I did love to try and had a lot of fun with everything that I did.  I was a good runner too and loved being one of the fastest in my class.  I have always been very active – my mom power walked and I remember rollerblading with her as a kid.  I did not ever want to stay at home, so just being on the go was a way of life.

What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture?

My husband was the catalyst. It was not until we started dating that I seriously got into lifting weights and being strong.  Once he taught me about weight lifting and how to lift heavy weights, I was hooked!  Working out together was like our date every day.  It was after about a year of pushing myself and seeing changes in my body, that I realized that I wanted to show other women what is was like to enjoy being healthy and fit.  I don’t think that as women we are taught that we can be very strong, and most of us don’t know how great it can feel to majorly push our bodies. As we realize what we can do physically, it runs over into other aspects of our lives. Our confidence gets better, our jobs get better as we gain the courage to go for promotions, and we start to make our relationships (with ourselves and others) better.  We realize that we have total control over our lives and can do whatever we set our minds to.  Women are strong and incredible, but so often we don’t realize our potential and that is my mission: to empower women to be strong – physically, mentally, emotionally, and to go for whatever they want!

What makes your boot camp unique in comparison to others in this field, and why can’t it be copied?

MLBBC is comprised of only women, and I love that aspect.  We get to come in, work hard, get sweaty, and push ourselves without being self-conscious.  I keep the atmosphere positive and empowering.  We all support and motivate everyone – so no matter what your fitness level, you start where you are, and push yourself to progress from there.  I love the ladies that come to the gym, and I have a personal relationship with all of them!  I sincerely care if they are feeling good and getting the results that they want. I want the best for all the members at the gym!

What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear/stress?

I believe that what we think about, we create, so I do everything that I can to focus on what I can control and to stay positive.  I work hard and I give as much love as possible to everyone that I meet.  I believe that everything happens for a reason, and no matter what comes along, I will just keep going!

What passions and commitments define your business?

The main focus of my business is strength. I knew when I got strong and felt so amazing that I needed to share it.  I wanted all women to feel the way I felt.  I wanted all women to know that they can do anything they set their mind to!

What values do your employees embody? What does your company contribute to the world?

My employees are incredible women!  They are strong and they love each MLBBC member as well.  We all want the ladies to get results, to feel great, and to realize just how incredible they are, so my team is supportive, loving, and motivating.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Looking around my very own gym on the 3rd anniversary of boot camp starting.  There were about 73 women working out, pushing themselves, and loving it.  I was so proud to be able to do what I was doing, and so inspired by the love and motivation that surrounded me!  It was truly overwhelming and amazing.

What’s your secret to productivity?

DO something.  Take action, even if it is small action, and get the ball rolling.  If there is something that I have been putting off and it is still on my list, I start by checking off something else.  Once I have momentum from getting something done, I just go on to the next thing.  But the first step is to do SOME thing, even if it is just to get up and move. Once you have that initial energy going, it is so much easier to do something else!

How do you reward yourself for a job well done?

I love me time, and usually no woman gets enough of it.  I love to get a massage, take an Epsom salt bath, or just read a book.  Quiet time recharges me, so I know if I am super busy, sitting in my favorite chair and sipping tea will help me feel refreshed.  I also love spending time with my friends, so a lunch out or a long coffee date with a girlfriend takes my mind off everything else and allows me to have fun and be totally in the moment!

Small Business Saturday in Uptown Normal

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

As the holidays are approaching, we are entering a season of both giving and receiving. This Saturday, after we spend time with our families focusing on what we are thankful for, is a day designated to supporting small businesses in our communities. By showing some love to and spending money at local businesses, we are helping to build up and grow our home towns. Uptown Normal is the perfect place to spend your Small Business Saturday. It is filled friendly faces, one of a kind stores and boutiques, and restaurants that serve their food with love, care, and passion.

The Garlic Press & Market Café, our next-door neighbor, offers a variety of unique products ranging from beautifully crafted kitchen wear to handmade cards to Flax clothing. Their cafe, which is connected to the shop, sells high quality deli items, soups and hot sandwiches made with the freshest ingredients, a selection of fine cheeses, and much more. Their flavored coffee and espresso drinks are Heather’s daily favorites. Who doesn’t love a warm cup of joe on a frigid day? This spot is perfect for gift shopping, purchasing home products or cute trinkets, and getting a bite to eat for lunch.garlic-press

Uptown is also blessed to be home to one of the lovely boutiques in the Apricot Lane franchise. This storefront is run by a mother and daughter duo who had dreams of opening their own fashion boutique and turned it into a reality. It’s filled with trendy apparel, shoes, and accessories that are perfect for the holidays. They carry a mix of styles and designs for all types of women. The atmosphere is extremely inviting, and the entire staff is willing and ready to assist customers in any way possible. Stop in and get a super cute winter ready outfit, or a Christmas gift for your favorite lady.apricot-lane-1

A BloNo favorite Medici, is an elegantly designed yet kid friendly restaurant that offers dishes that your entire family is sure to drool over. My personal favorite is the red pepper fettucine with salmon. It features pasta tossed in a delicious cream sauce topped with basil and parmesan. It has the perfect slight kick of spice and is to die for when paired with their freshly grilled salmon. They also have a variety of desserts and bar drinks to choose from. A delectable dinner at Medici surrounded by beautiful design and top-notch service is a great way to end your shopping-filled day.Medici Normal

At OhmFit, we will be offering a $5 certificate for the first ten customers who shop with us on Saturday, a free Bolder Band headband with every $150 purchase, as well as complimentary refreshments and gift wrap all day long! We will also have the pleasure of hosting a BeautyCounter trunk show with Heidi Castleman, a BC consultant. Beautycounter is devoted to progress, education, and creating change for a healthier world. Their mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. Unlike many businesses in the beauty industry, they aim to provide safe and health-conscious goods. They have removed 1500 potentially harmful ingredients from their products and have a strict manufacturing and ingredient selection process. They sell cosmetics, skin, body, and hair care, and have a baby and kids line. There is truly something for everyone! Heidi has many BC favorites, but she is absolutely obsessed with the charcoal mask. It leaves her face feeling refreshed and exfoliates and clears up her congested skin. She is equally in love with the citrus mimosa hydrating body lotion that smells amazingly fresh. They also have a new makeup palette that comes with a bronzer, blush, highlighter and 6 eyeshadows (an extreme steal)! Heidi will be bringing all the BeautyCounter holiday sets, skin care, body care, kids/baby care, and many other cosmetics that will available for you to purchase at OhmFit on Saturday.beautycounter-makeup

Showing love to small businesses and the hard-working people who run them, has a direct positive affect on your community. The shops and restaurants in Uptown Normal are committed to providing five-star products and noteworthy service to our customers. When you know the people behind the business on a personal level, you enjoy an unmatched connection that cannot be found with a large corporation. By spending this day with us you are improving the local economy, keeping our community unique, and making it a better place to live. Whether it is on Small Business Saturday, a regular weekend, or week day, small businesses deserve to be a part of your shopping routine.
